“I’ve seen this movie before,”

The new Scream was really disappointing. Not quite sure why folks were raving about it. It doesn't break new ground, it got some decent meta ideas but they didn't do nearly enough with that the earlier movies didn't already do in much clever & fun way. I know Scream movies are supposed to be meta and self-referential but there's hardly a line of dialogue that doesn’t land with a wink at the audience & goddamn does it take tension away from the movie. Wes Craven movies balanced the tension and the humor way better. And the new cast is simply unable to sell it, and the lazy writing doesn't help them in the least. The og cast was underutilized too; David Arquette gets the best scenes, i loved all the Dewey stuff.
