Museo 2018
This movie is fantastic. So fantastic, actually, I wrote a whole thing about its themes of archaelogy, theft and colonialism for the Brattle. You should read it. And then tell everyone about it (the film....but the article too).

Eighth Grade 2018
Opening Night of International Film Festival Boston 2018.
Q&A with Bo Burnham and Elsie Fisher.Bo Burnham understands better than most what it’s like to be a lonely kid trying to find the joys of online invisibility in the real world and, with Eighth Grade, has taken a sledgehammer to the outdated myth that high school is the worst part of growing up. High school is confusing, sure, but it’s nothing compared to the three year caravan of misery through halls of kids carrying SpongeBob USB drives and horny teens begging for Snapchats.
Wrote more about this for the Brattle.

Jennifer's Body 2009
Not the scorned masterpiece everyone's screaming about but a lot of fun! It's comedy elements worked best for me, as the rest gets kinda messy. But also its messiness is glorious because it comes from two women (Kusama and Cody but, also Fox and Seyfried), allowing themselves to transgress whatever straight-through story men would've come up with.
Fox is unbelievably gorgeous, more Rita Hayworth screen siren than I remembered, and Seyfried is legitimately good. When are we going to start recognizing her for that?
