  Yes, the monsters go smashy-smashy and that is fun, but the visual scale and physics of the monsters was such a far cry from the masterful work of Gareth Edwards in that area. Aside from the wacky use of Biblical Christ/Anti-Christ imagery, this film is not kind to its female or POC characters at all. I guess audiences got what they were missing from the 2014 installment, but the cost was a terribly insane and unnecessary plot.
