Warren Wilkinson’s review published on Letterboxd:
Paul Thomas Anderson’s the master is one of the best films to come out of Hollywood in years or since Paul Thomas Anderson’s last film.
Now I’m going to start with the fact that this is shot in entirely in 65mm that in itself is an enough reason to watch this film, and it’s a beautiful thing to watch too. I love it when directors shoot in this because everything will look wide and epic, like movies should.
Hoffman and Phoenix Give powerhouse performances more notably Phoenix who is hands down the man who should get the Oscar but won’t and it’s a shame, because I do think that this is the film that should have been cleaning up the Oscar nominations because to just give the leads the nod is something very wrong indeed.
