Just an overall enjoyable, endearing, and almost confessional comedy show. Ansari not only makes a wonderful comeback with this, but comments and utilizes personal histories and relationships in a way that’s never mean spirited, or to show off to seem “whatever,” but it comes out very genuine.
For us, as an audience, probably even more than the people there as were in attendance, is that we’re seeing this through the lens of Spike Jonze. Using film, and having all that grain and feedback on the screen, as well as following Ansari at the beginning as he walks into the theatre, “Pale Blue Eyes” playing, and having the camera rest beside him for almost the entirety, makes for a really unique, and fitting perspective to this show.
