James Hrivnak’s review published on Letterboxd:
Rightfully recognized and remembered as one of the all-timer action films, Chan's POLICE STORY is formally so well-constructed in that it never loses sight of what its there to do: be a spectacle delivery system. Chan uses techniques to capture and show off human bodies—their energy, elasticity. And it's a showcase not just for batshit stunts and fight choreography, but physical comedy (the telephone scene—marred by a horrible rape joke). There's so much energy and fun and just fuck, wow! moments. This movie's great.
