Star Wars Marathon - Film #1

An absolutely boring and dull film with a story that lacks the beauty and awe of the original trilogy. It’s a completely soulless and fundamental misfire from Lucas. Star Wars isn’t the success it is today because of the visuals, it’s the compelling story and characters that keep people coming back to this universe. And with Phantom Menace, Lucas delivered a film so focused on inventive visuals rather than crafting a compelling storyline. We wanted to watch a film, not a video game Mr. Lucas.

    Ewan McGregor is king though.

A heartbreaking and insightful look at the life of Anton Yelchin. He was not just an extremely talented individual, but also a beautiful soul. You will laugh, you will cry, and you will smile at this lovingly crafted doc. Anton is greatly missed for his humility, talent and intelligence. He’s an all around incredible human being and this doc beautifully showcases the love everyone in his life had for him. We need more people like Anton.

Well, I didn’t love Scorsese’s latest. I know I’m going to get a lot of shit for that, but I just couldn’t get into this overlong and oddly-structured snooze fest. Maybe I set myself up with too high of expectations, seeing as everyone has been raving about this film ever since it’s premiere at NYFF. While it boasts great performances across the board and a final half hour that’s peak Scorsese, I was mostly left unimpressed. With laughably bad de-aging effects that undercut tension within scenes, and a mostly tedious narrative; The Irishman is easily the biggest disappointment of the year for me. I’m absolutely crushed.

i totally prefer this over Goodfellas! a masterfully directed and complex film that’s easily one of Scorsese’s more fascinating pictures.

Malick meets Gus Van Sant in AJ Edwards’ visceral and meditative work of art. I couldn’t take my eyes off of this thing with its absolutely stunning visuals and engaging atmosphere. Definitely don’t let it go under your radar.
