Dolemite Is My Name ★★★★½

We're officially living in the Murphonaissance!

A brilliant addition to the Alexander / Karaszewski biopic canon, 'Dolemite Is My Name' is a loving tribute to comedic pioneer, Rudy Ray Moore.

Radiating positivity, Eddie Murphy delivers a career-defining performance as the forefather of Hip-Hop. Supported by a magnificent ensemble, Murphy embodies his hero with ease. Adopting the flashy pimp-esque persona that took Blaxploitation by storm his presence is electrifying!

Come February, there is a strong possibility that costumer, Ruth E. Green could be celebrating back to back Academy Award wins. Combined with the funky compositions of Scott Bomar their contributions are pivotal in helping to recreate a bygone era.

Unconcerned with the quality of its subject's work, Craig Brewer's sole focus is to celebrate the man and his art! Rudy Ray Moore stepped out of his comfort-zone and crafted his own path. Proving that dreams can come true for those who are willing to take a chance.

Welcome back, Eddie. We missed you!
