Jack Freiberger’s review published on Letterboxd:
My friend asked me what I thought and this is what I told him, "Honestly it was mostly okay, with a few super super stand out amazing moments. The score is 10 out of 10."
Then there was some witty banter between me and my friend and then I said, "Yeah, I totally see why people are either loving or hating it. It's very intellectual but with only a few scenes as exceptions, it is not very engaging."
A great movie by no means needs to be directly engaging and trying to get the masses to into your movie can easily lead to little substance, but at least a slight effort would be appreciated. The movie is still good and while it is my least favorite PTA (having not seen Inherent Vice) all of his fans should see this movie. They will have a pleasant experience.
