Jack Gattanella’s review published on Letterboxd:
A documentary about someone who listened and could write so well. Also about Sacramento, making this the second best thing from that town since Lady Bird. But seriously, excellent filmmaking and editing by Liz Garbus; look how she uses the tea kettle when the one woman describes her rape at 15 by the EAR as just one example. This is about, equally, Michelle McNamara's life and dedicated obsession with this (and other) cases, and about this criminal and the victims. This is a great start to something that feels really monumental as a story of investigation and the humanity that is inextricably tied to it.
Oh, and fuck yeah Creature from the Black Lagoon!
