Jackson Magaw’s review published on Letterboxd :
For a movie based on a Stephen King best-seller, this is no surprise that expectations were high. Unfortunately, this dark fantasy inspired by the novel series of the same name is dull and lacking in magic. Aside from just barely impressing with its special effects, this movie manages to make an unfortunate feat of sucking both Idris Alba and Matthew McConaughey dry of their charisma. The latter in particularly feels gravely miscast in a role far outside his good guy typecast while the script bears almost nothing interesting for Alba to do. The story in particularly is no fun either. Sluggishly paced and short on surprises, viewers are in for a bigger destiny of being bored to death than relishing in excitement with a plot that should have been more compelling. The Dark Tower is a dissappointing dud.
