holy shit... this is a masterpiece. it's the best war film i've ever seen, and probably one of the best war films ever made. it's depressing but at the same time it's beautiful but also at the same time it'll make you cry yourself to sleep and will pop up in your head every couple hours and make you cry again. it caused an emotional reaction in me that very few films have, and even though part of me never wants to watch this again because i feel pretty traumatised, i wish i could experience this for the first time again. films like this remind me why i love watching films, and it's one that everyone should watch. absolute perfection.
