Puss in Boots has it rough in old age.
Really great stuff. I've heard that the movie is more effective if I had seen the director's previous work, but I didn't really have a problem getting invested at all. Even though I'm not familiar with his previous work, the honesty and melancholy nature of the film felt really personal and the lead performance by Antonio Banderas really brought everything together.
I was surprised how effectively the film had me feeling various emotions that were going through the character's head. The film was also exceptionally shot and has a few shots in particular that really stick out in my head even now.
This was a movie that wasn't necessarily on my radar but I'm really glad I gave a chance. Such an easy recommendation.
