  • Glee: The Concert Movie

    Glee: The Concert Movie

it’s for people with taste and self-hatred!

Zack Snyder at his most Zack Snyder. Pure maximalist filmmaking at its most grandiose, exhilarating action that makes me cheer out loud, and one of the most gorgeous movies ever made. That being said, and though I do like it, politically it’s rather #yikes. Do with that what you will.

  • The Color of Money

    The Color of Money

There is just nothing more fun than watching rad Scorsese shots captured by Michael Ballhaus and edited together by Thelma Schoonmaker. I also want to shout out Tom Cruise and Paul Newman because there are a lot of long shots going around them as they play pool where there are no cuts and they really had to hit in ball after ball for real and that is impressive.

  • Scarface

Howard Hawks flexed so hard on all of his filmmaking peers with that opening shot.

  • King Kong

    King Kong

A stunning piece of filmmaking that is constantly creative with its approach and has some of the most jaw-dropping special effects and deeply entertaining set pieces ever put to film. It’s also quite misogynistic and deeply, deeply racist. Don’t know what else to say, those are my thoughts.

  • Meet the Feebles

    Meet the Feebles

this guy went on to make the most awarded film in Oscars history.

  • Fight Club

    Fight Club

watched with the audio commentary featuring fincher. Honestly this reveals itself to be less and less interesting to me every time I rewatch it. I still like it but it is firmly in the bottom half of Fincher’s filmography imo.

  • Mission: Impossible III

    Mission: Impossible III

JJ directs the stealthy spy set-pieces to feel so smooth and effortless and fun. Also love how much this movie really humanized Ethan and enriched his character. But god there’s some boring chunks in this movie I can’t lie. Hoffman is a joy.

  • Freaky

Had some adult-writing-teen dialogue that was more cringy than fun sometimes but idc that much. Kathryn Newton is the moment!

  • Junun

Just a raw and unpolished filmmaking experiment by pta, who is basically just playing around with his blackmagic pocket cinema camera while everyone else plays rad ass music.

  • Side by Side

    Side by Side

I’m in love with the look and feeling of celluloid film, but hearing old dudes tell me not to use the newer technologies really makes me want to say fuck you and hop on the digital revolution with George Lucas.

but yes I obviously really hope we can find a way to keep film available as an option

  • Free Birds

    Free Birds

    this movie is very homoerotic
