• Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes

Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes

    ★★★★

The fact they were able to hide Tarzan’s butthole from being shown is a complete triumph, but the amount of dick and piss they showed was too much.

I think this would make a good entrance into the criterion collection— I think it’s got that attention to detail and relentless pursuit to try to be factual/realistic.

Possibly the best ape acting I’ve seen to date, or they found some of the most realistic ape costumes I’ve ever seen… damn near can’t tell the difference.

    Vatos Locos forever, holmes!

They REALLY went for it with this one.

Basically Network (1976) but with balls.

  • Jackie Brown

    ★★★★½

De Niro is 🔥☄️🚒🧯 in this and it’s probably his most underrated performances.

  • The Player

    The Player

    ★★★★★

One of my favorite parts— of which there are many— is when Griffin walks on the lawn and looks into the window of his supposed stalker while talking to her over the phone… technically very creepy and borderline psychotic.

  • 21 Up

    21 Up

    ★★★★

21 is such a weird stage. The women in this episode are the most interesting— they have this weird confidence mixed with bursts of big time insecurity.

  • Seven Up!

    Seven Up!

    ★★★★

I’ve seen this a few times and every time the sort of class division is so apparent at such a young age 🥲

  • The Woodsman

    ★★★

I was half expecting the fade to black to turn into “Walter was true in his rehabilitation for a time, but ultimately…”

  • Stardust

    Stardust

    ★★★½

I get the feeling the seed of this movie was created around a pile of cocaine in the back of a gay bar where everyone has only seen half of Hook, half of wizard of oz and the cartoon version of The Hobbit.

  • The Act of Killing

    The Act of Killing

    ★★★★

I’m a sense this was basically a jackass movie in format.

  • The Last Samurai

    The Last Samurai

    ★★★½

I just see a lot of guys in the battles of those times thinking, “shiit.. I really should have practiced more, my dad was right like usual.. I guess I never thought this day would come.”

  • Bill Burr: Live at Red Rocks

Bill Burr: Live at Red Rocks

    ★★★½

He’s the man! Red Rocks is an interesting place to shoot a special.. not sure that part worked all that well for me, but the jokes were as good as ever.
