Sometimes very funny, but sometimes a bit too much and I think I’d have appreciated it more if it was a bit shorter, it got a bit repetetive (both intentionally and unintentionally I guess). I also think this is way less funny when you haven’t seen the movies it references and because of the fact that I haven’t seen that much Fassbinder and such that might have influenced my enjoyment.
Der Hauptmann is no easy watch. Everything from the dark humor to the soundtrack makes this one of the most suffocating movies I have seen. Because of that it leaves a very strong impression and gives a lot of food for thought. And I guess that is something all of the moviegoers felt up to a certain level, because nobody said a word after the end credits had rolled (those end credits are great BTW).
Der Hauptmann is about power…
A star is born isn’t as special as the four star ratings wanted me to believe. I liked the first half way more than the second and it definitely could’ve lost a couple of minutes. There was no need for it to be as long as it was. I also think that there were a few things that would’ve been more interesting to focus on than they did. I really liked the scenes at the beginning where Ally is weirded…
