for film club secret cinema
yes, the pale-man (my favorite part of the movie!) and creative visual sequences and mythical re-telling of a real world event all struck an enormous chord.
but.
it was the protagonist's mother sweetly asking if she liked the dress that she made for her... i was a wreck. this movie is at it's best when it threads a glimmer of humanity and spark of life into the bleakest of times. (it's at it's worst when it leans into the darkness).
