    Knives Out

A “whodunnit” that lets the audience in on the crime about 30 minutes into the film, only to reveal more twists than a Chubby Checker song. Which reminds me, this movie has great music.

Ana de Armas is adorable in the central role—yep, she is undoubtably the star of the movie, which was a surprise given the trailers and marketing. She should be in every movie.

While it was cool to see a modern mystery film, a more “timeless” approach would’ve been appreciated. This movie had more references to Google and current politics than a podcast no one listens to (just pick one, any one).

Man of Steel is awesome. Rousing score, beautiful color palette, and an appropriately jacked and flawed Superman.

And compared to the new… Palpatine? …trilogy, The Phantom Menace is like George W. Bush. Given what…

    Jojo Rabbit

Charming and sweet, and very funny, but also much sadder than I thought it would be. Scarlett Johansson may have deserved the Supporting Actress Oscar this year―she is wonderful as a member of the German anti-Nazi resistance and as Jojo’s mother, who does her best to keep him safe and distracted at the end of WWII and the Third Reich.
Taika Waititi is an expert at mixing slapstick humor with genuine emotion and pathos. Jojo never really misses the…
