Pixar's run of mediocrity continues with Elemental. The studio seems to have totally abandoned making films that appeal to adults and kids alike at this point, with the humor here totally juvenile (and generic for that matter.) One of the protagonists of the film is particularly annoying as sh*t. While typically these films can salvage themselves with their animation prowess, the beautiful background designs here are cancelled out by some pretty strange character design decisions. All of it makes Elemental at once strange and forgettable.

Bottoms 2023
The film relishes in foregoing basic logic in the belief it is satirizing high school films, but from a plot perspectives it refuses to take the leap into actually satirizing high school films. The result is a film with close to no logic. I am not convinced of the chemistry between Sennott and Edebiri, and without it there is little here. Certainly the film lacks in the "emotional core and surprisingly clever structure" department I had naively hoped for it.…
