Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest ★★★★

If Curse of the Black Pearl was playfully critical of European imperialism, Dead Man's Chest is playfully critical of mercantile capitalism. Also, I understand why some find this film less enjoyable: the breakneck pacing leaves little room for reflection, so the onslaught of impeccably choreographed set pieces can be a bit exhausting. But I love it.
