Jake’s review published on Letterboxd:
would love to cut an idea/thematic element and 5-10 minutes of ~atmosphere~ out of this. as it is, a fantastic sci-fi thriller with sick practical effects and explosions of body horror.
mean & brutal. corporations tearing apart the identity of the individual. POSSESSOR is effective at realizing psychiatric pain. it's gorgeous, with surreal breaks of trippy visuals and audio distortion. great performances.
a self-assured, confident film from Brandon Cronenberg that incessantly bothers you. something you feel. wish it had coalesced the themes more coherently and deftly, but the ingredients are there.
"why not just say fuck you to the old man and quit?"
