Jake 🌹’s review published on Letterboxd:
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 010120 on Netflix:
A comic book brought to life. Nerdy, referential, yet self-contained and enjoyable for someone without reverence for all source material. Beautiful animation, and the colors are vibrant and striking. Really stylish overall, even if the comic book font and comic book action stuff isn’t really my thing. Also, I felt it was a little overlong, and some of the side story arcs kinda sucked.
I think Miles and the Spider-Verse schtick was a fun, new direction that worked (and it wasn’t avengers filler shit!). Great voice acting, especially Jake Johnson. Fuck yeah, Nic Cage saying dumb shit like:
”Sometimes I let matches burn down to my fingertips just to feel something, anything.”
And John Mulaney? Shits cool.
Enjoyed it & will watch again.
