Jake Taylor’s review published on Letterboxd:
Eddie Murphy is back baby!!!!
Dolemite is an incredible return to form from Eddie Murphy. Hiding in the shadows for the last decade, Murphy bursts back into the limelight with his portrayal of the cinematic mastermind Rudy Ray Moore. A blaxploitation film about the creation of a blaxploitation film, Dolemite is a big ball of fun. It’s funny, informative, and seemed like a blast to make for the whole cast. Each actor really went all-out and you can see that on the screen. It’s edited well as the almost 2-hour runtime flies by and only falters in the picture quality as it tends to look more like a TV show than a movie, but that doesn’t stop it being a damn good time. If you were a fun of Wesley Snipes or Murphy back in the old days, then you will love this movie.
