”Anything buried out there is meant to stay buried”
David McCracken’s Bullitt County successfully conveys and evokes a surface level simplistic thriller and mystery, yet below the surface is an eerie and effective horror that wonderfully plays with genre conventions and succeeds in the conviction of entertainment. Production limitations aside, McCracken, conceptually similar to what Sam Raimi achieved with Evil Dead, does a great job of prospering on a small budget by having an interesting and engaging story unfold on screen with his screenplay relishing in multiple twists and turns.
