The Blue Angel ★★★

It's an iconic role for Dietrich, and Jannings sells the hell out of his climactic breakdown, but for the most part it wasn't really doing much for suffers quite heavily from the usual early-talkie problems (probably would have worked better as a silent film), and the story felt kinda underdeveloped. The last few scenes are really good, but I didn't feel like it properly earned them, and on the whole it definitely felt a bit sluggish.
