Jammerlich’s review published on Letterboxd:
Pretty good Eurocrime film starring Jean Paul Belmondo as a rogue cop.
The programmer prefaced the screening by stating Jackie Chan idolized him and it's pretty run of the mill until Belmondo picks up a cat. Only knowing his arthouse stuff I found it hard to believe, but when Belmondo picked up that cat IT WENT DOWN. Belmondo, who was doing his own stunts, preceded to throw himself around Parisian rooftops and subway car roofs with reckless abandon for an extended chase sequence involving TWO different perps.
This segment was hands down one of the best I've seen this year and had me on the edge of my seat. Unfortunately it makes all that comes after it seem a bit overcooked, although there was some nice cat and mouse and the final stunt involving a helicopter was nice.
Story wise it was fairly run of the mill. However, there was a darkly comic tinge to it all at points. Whether or not this was amplified by the dub, which I thought was pretty good, remains to be seen. While I'll never know the answer to that possibly, I do know I need to check out some more Jean Paul Belmondo action movies.
