Watched it when I was 13, made it my entire personality.

Pure cinematic chaos, a nightmarish road trip straight into the heart of 90s America and its sensationalist media appetite for violence. Not only a completely unique viewing experience more akin to a vicious assault, using its cinematic language as a kind of shock therapy, but a true reflection of a dawn of a new age; one where OJ Simpson and the Mendez brothers have the same cultural currency as McDonalds and Coca Cola. One of the most powerful, mesmerising pieces of cinema, truly of its time and forever one of my favourites.

This nasty little surreal slasher from the class of 1981 acts as a solid public service announcement that if you reject a kid’s valentine, that kid will wait 30 years until you’re a hot divorcee who needs to pick up test results from the hospital and viciously murder most of the medical staff in a bid to enact bloody revenge on you for spurning him.

Smashing together early 60s small-town Americana with nostalgic halloween town aesthetics to an 80s creature feature with a horror-punk soundtrack - it doesn’t go as hard or dark as it could’ve, instead primarily more interested in its own lore and style, but any flick featuring 50’s rockabilly teenage delinquents fighting a Pumpkinhead-inspired monster on Halloween night to the sounds of The Cramps and The Damned was something I was always going to dig.

Bad moon rising. A totally perfect monster movie, I first watched this at 11 years old after getting a copy on VHS, and was totally mesmerised by its blend of horror and comedy, werewolves and sex. Charmingly funny, gory and original; forever a stone cold horror cult cinema classic. I still always think of this movie when walking through an empty tube station late at night.
