    Creed II

Creed II takes what Coogler and company established in their first film and pushes it to new heights. While the formula is familiar, this film proves that there is no need to fix what isn't broken. This is a story about family and legacy, in the most epic sense, and is technically tighter than its predecessor. This franchise was revitalized in 2015 and the team took the opportunity they had to make another knockout film. They succeeded.

  • Venom

Venom is fresh, tonally unique and takes us back to the basics of what makes a comic-book movie fun to watch.

    Pee-wee's Big Holiday

Fun revival of the classic, lovable Pee-Wee! I recommend it to anyone who grew up with the character. The jokes are repetitive but perfectly so. I haven't laughed this hard in I don't know how long.

"Who puts a synthesizer in a horror film score?!" - the poor, hopeless woman who sat in front of me in the theater.

  • Angst

    This is a bloody masterpiece.

    Halloween II

Now I have always enjoyed his 2007 re-imagining, but Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 is a much better and more solid film. This time around, Zombie wasn't restricted in terms of story or tone, and you can tell when you compare the two that it was purely his vision driving the project. I remember him saying that he wouldn't do a sequel, but whatever changed his mind, I'm grateful for it, because I consider this to be one of the best installments of the franchise.
