This movie confirms my long-held belief that a repressed gay man is the most dangerous type of person in the world.
Though it is a bit of a slow burn, there's a palpable, sickening sense of unease beginning with the opening voiceover that never lets up until the credits roll. Performances are all very, very strong but Campion's unique vision in crafting this sort of anti-western western, her complete control and mastery of her craft is the real takeaway here. Incredible movie, one that I know will be in my head for a long time.
