    Capote

I watched Capote tonight while listening to the audio commentary featuring director Bennett Miller and actor Philip Seymour Hoffman. I've seen this movie before, but this was the first time I've listened to one of the commentaries. It's highly recommended for fans of the movie and of Hoffman. I'll listen to the second commentary track soon.

  • The Neon Demon

    The Neon Demon

You know what my mother used to call me? Dangerous.
"You're a dangerous girl." She was right. I am dangerous.

This was my first viewing of The Neon Demon. I watched it on Amazon Prime, but I’ll be buying the Blu-ray ASAP. This is one of those movies that requires multiple viewings to fully comprehend its meaning. I’m especially looking forward to the audio commentary with director Nicolas Winding Refn and star Elle Fanning.

    The Fog

For the second time this year, I've retired one of my MGM flipper discs. Earlier tonight, for my annual April 21st viewing of The Fog, I watched my newly acquired Scream Factory Blu-ray release of the movie. I really enjoyed the new special features and the transfer looks terrific.

I finally own this movie on Blu-ray. After relying on MGM’s non-anamorphic DVD for many years, I took delivery today of Twilight Time’s encore edition of Rollerball.

  • The Deadly Game

    The Deadly Game

This is the first time I've watched The Deadly Game in well over 30 years. It premiered on HBO back in 1982, and I'm pretty sure I watched it each time it was on. And yes, it's every bit as good as I remembered.

Tidbit 1: The audience shots were staged to make it look like a traditional play. It was actually taped over a 5-day period at a BBC studio.

Tidbit 2: Danny Steinmann, director of Friday the 13th: A New Beginning and Savage Streets, was an associate producer.

Tidbit 3: The Deadly Game has never been released on DVD.
