Has Michael Bay even watched this?!?!?!?!?
Those who know me, know that I am a big Transformers fan (see Transformers the Movie 1986 and the animated series). After Michael Bay's first two monstrosities, this is by far the worst installment and it has nothing to do with the absence of Megan Fox. The whole movie is basically a soft core porn flick with some very expensive visual effects. Absolutely terrible.
Great directorial debut from Ben Affleck. A very serious subject dealt with extremely well.
Since Ben Affleck's directorial debut in 'Gone Baby Gone', he has continued to impress with 'The Town'. This was a really well thought out and engaging bank job thriller which forces the viewer to empathize with the main anti-hero's. Often viewed as the less talented of the Boston Duo (the other member being Mat Damon), he is quickly showing his worth in the directors chair as well as a respected actor.
As a cosmology enthusiast, I was drawn, like a weak gravitational pull, to watching this film but my initial instincts were right. I like Nick 'King of B movies' Cage, I'm interested in the idea of determinism, I even enjoyed the average special effects but when the Aliens (or God metaphors) turn up I had enough! They look like extras from a Bros music video!
Olivia Coleman is amazing. It's strange listening to her voice over a light hearted television advert with this performance in mind! Was also great to hear Meryl Streep single her out for her talents in her BAFTA award acceptance speech.
