I couldn’t help but think this would have made a really good pilot episode for an HBO show, rather than a feature length movie. Standing on its own it felt lacking, Almost that it deserved more but I also didn’t want more because it was so brutal. I’m calling it now that it will be an overrated film 10 years down the road.
Isn’t family so much fun?
I need more Krisha in more movies please. The story wasn’t always compelling but the performance by Krisha was. You can tell this was a deeply personal story and mattered to the actors in the film (probably because most of the actors were family members) .
I really enjoyed how the film felt and looked like a family home video but with better production value. That may seem like an insult but I really mean it as a compliment. It worked for the aesthetic of the film and created a really compelling image.
