This film doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it provides enough kills and thrills to keep the average horror fan interested through at least one viewing. It's nature as a prequel means there aren't a ton of surprises, but it did manage to give me exactly what I was expecting in a fairly tight package.
Day of Anger is a straightforward, but wholly serviceable Western.
Lee Van Cleef is a pleasure, as always, in the role of the Mentor/ Anti-Hero.
The movie is excellently paced and never leaves you waiting too long between spurts of gunfire.

Having read the novella from Joe Hill and Stephen King, I went into In The Tall Grass expecting a competent, but basic, adaptation. Previous Netflix versions of King stories have been solid (1922, Gerald's Game) but rarely diverged significantly from the source material. I was pleasantly surprised, then, to find that Vincenzo Natalie's take matched, and often surpassed, the original.
