“See? It’s just a scary movie. Let’s watch it.”

I wanted to like this so bad but I just didn’t. It had some good qualities like the halloween atmosphere, the vhs tape concept was cool, and I like the grainy low budget look it has.

However, there’s a lot of issues here. First, the acting is not good at all. The story gets really consulted and messy throughout, and it’s just boring. I still am going to check out the sequel!

“The world is not made of atoms. It is made of stories.”

I’m a sucker for anthologies and this gave me EVERYTHING and then some! The tone and rainy, creepy mansion atmosphere is so delicious. Definitely has a Creepshow vibe mixed with Dead Silence in a way and I love it.

All of the stories were great with great performances and some solid effects. Our lead girl is wonderful and Clancy Brown is so much fun to watch. So perfectly evil mixed with a scooby-doo vibe and it’s just great! Very excited to revisit this soon!

This was very solid little possession film! A very haunting score, delicious cinematography, and solid performances! It’s not necessarily right in your face horror but there’s a lot of great buildup here. Definitely strange but very well done and explores a lot of different themes throughout!

“It is the essence of evil.”

This is even better upon a rewatch and it’s such a treat to be able to watch at home right now. This is such a heartbreaking, raw, brutal, and emotional film to watch. 40 years of pure fear, anger, and pain felt by every resident of Haddonfield brings us to this insane blood soaked entry that further explores the trauma caused by Michael Myers.

Something about this one brought me to tears more than…

    “Let him burn!”

My god. I left the theater over an hour ago and I’m still trying to find the proper words to explain how much I loved this movie. I’ll probably be able to write something better tomorrow but I’m going to try now.

There was so much love and passion put into this entry by both the cast and crew and it shows the whole way through. This felt like a giant love letter to not only John…

“He’s waited for this night. He’s waited for me. I’ve waited for him.”

In honor of Halloween Kills finally being released, I had another excuse to revisit David Gordon Green’s Halloween. I watched this several times in the theater and was hands down my favorite theater experience so far. Even after several rewatches since then, my love for this film just keeps growing.

Not only did it reboot the franchise (my favorite franchise behind Scream of course) and bring the…

“I’m a goddamn force of nature.”

I absolutely love revisiting this early 2000’s classic, and what better time to do so then during halloween season. The soundtrack bangs, the small town fall atmosphere is stunning, WEREWOLVES, and the fitzgerald sisters are iconic.

I love how the themes of femininity and going through puberty are intertwined with becoming a werewolf. Being a teenager sucks in general most of the time, but starting your period and going through all of those hormonal…

    “Just like putting on mascara.”

This was a very very solid little indie slasher! Our leading couple was so cute and badass. Much like the Fear Street trilogy that was also released this year, I loved that a lesbian couple was allowed to be at the forefront and got to be our final girl duo. They had great chemistry and had some solid character development as well!

I’m a sucker for a slasher set in a cabin in the middle…

    “Hey Mikey! Happy fuckin’ Halloween!”

I know this movie is a mess but…I love it. I’m a sucker for early 2000’s slashers and this is no different. If they didn’t include Laurie’s death in this, this is really not a bad movie and I’d probably rate it higher for that reason.

Killing off Laurie, especially after the iconic and satisfying ending to h20, was a slap in the face. It was so dumb and unnecessary. The kiss was…certainly a choice…
