Historically important story and injustice gets me every time, but the slow pace and understated telling made my interest wane more than once...
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
It’s just too hard for me to buy into this story and most of all the just plain unbelievable twist and ending. It starts promising with the disappearance of a young girl meanders with some truly random red herring suspects, but the sudden transformation of one of the characters in a sub-Norman Bates killed it for me.
Very interesting camerawork, although the lighting didn’t help believability as the lead has a habit of hiding in plain sight/light.
The accentuating score is annoyingly present.
Still one of the most entertaining movies ever made! The action adventure template. A masterclass in camera placement and movement, the use of light and shadows, editing and sound design. The music makes the magic real.
Every set piece is unforgettable and iconic. Indiana Jones the ultimate screen hero.
At the umptieth rewatch I’m still madly in love with this movie!
