Will the families and kiddos enjoy it? Probably. But at what cost?

Lyle is a semi mute crocodile. I say semi mute because he can sing, but that’s it. If words come out of his crocodile mouth, it’s a show tune.  Whether this is canon to the extensive lore of Lyle Lyle Crocodile or simply Shawn Mendes was so bad at voice acting the studio decided to have him only sing, I am not sure. But it does beg the…

A movie that consistently takes your breath away with its sheer scale and visual artistry— only to fumble majorly with its disjointed script that never gets really good until the final act. Rarely gives us an opportunity to sit and breathe with any of the characters or the world so it’s difficult to become fully invested in the journey.

I don’t even mind that it’s derivative, just wish it didn’t feel like it was cut into a million pieces only to be put clumsily back together. That being said, has more heart than most blockbusters, so it has that going for it.

    Release the Edwards cut?

I’m glad The Menu never takes itself too seriously, because the movie is at it’s best when it gets extremely goofy, which is often. The story may veer into the predictable side of things, but like the film’s ornate food presented to its posh patrons, it’s all about the *journey*. It’s always a treat to see the elite get humiliated, but high brow foodie culture needs to get dunked on more often and The Menu is maybe the best (or at least my favorite) to do it.
