On purely aesthetic terms it's more than an equal for Koyaanisqatsi. The visuals are stunning, the soundtrack amazing. The film suffers somewhat in it's scope / narrative; genocide rubs shoulders with industrial farming and homelessness. A tighter focus may have allowed a deeper exploration of the issues, instead we a superficial collage reminiscent sounds and images that wouldn't be (wholly) out of place in a travel agent's promotional video.

Id does look and sound beautiful though.
