"I like to look for things no one else catches. I hate the way drivers never look at the road in old American movies."
Jean-Pierre Jeunet Amélie is sweet as home made apple pie, I seen cute, charming, romanticize films before, Amélie takes all that to a whole new level.
Jean-Pierre Jeunet has a touch for the charming and peculiar, in the hands of another director Amélie could've ended as a melodramatic forgettable film, instead Amélie turn out to be an iconic sweet film about life.
Audrey Tautou as Amélie Poulain was a genius casting from Jean-Pierre Jeunet, she brought a unique charisma to the character. Tautou comic timing is pitch perfect, her mannerisms and expressions said more than a thousand words, certainly Audrey Tautou was born to play this role, I can't imagine anyone else as Amélie Poulain.
I'll be very surprise if someone out there don't appreciate Amélie charming qualities, not only Amélie entertains but leaves you with a message.. You only have one life, don't be afraid of failure or pain, because without pain and failure, you won't be able to appreciate happiness and love to the fullest.
