"If we meet again, in the next life, you will be my sworn enemy and I will show you no mercy."

Paul Thomas Anderson 'The Master' is a peculiar film, it transcends the traditional narrative in more than one way, add to that Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix and you got a film that will stay with you for a long time.

There is a narrative arc to 'The Master', even do the film has a buzz around Scientology and the similarities between Lancaster Dodd (Philip Seymour Hoffman) and L. Ron Hubbard. is more than that, is about the human nature of auto destruction, pain and denial. but of course, this is my interpretation, that's the best part of the film, it has so many layers, it will resonate in different ways in different times and different people.

The Soundtrack by Jonny Greenwood is not as good as 'Bodysong' or "There Will be Blood', but, stills gives a personality to the film without over powering the scenes.

Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix are simply outstanding, especially Phoenix, this guy surely can act!! His character 'Freddie Quell' keeps you at the edge of your seat, is so unpredictable and I don't know if I should feel sorry or glad for the guy.

'The Master' is a necessary watch, It's a challenging film, a multilayer motion picture, that will only get better on re-watch.
