Sure to be the most interesting and divisive film of the year, it truly serves as the antithesis of the gangster genre, most similar in tone to The Irishman. Trank’s “comeback” picture is really anything but. Capone is a sinister, vile, and deeply haunting portrait of someone dying a slow, painful death with any saving grace just out of reach of their crumbling body and mind. It’s much more than just “Tom Hardy poops his pants as Al Capone”.
