Good movie. Essentially a series of vignettes with drama, heart, insanity, all that good stuff. Low budget, well produced Aussie goodness.
Second viewing, seven years later. I remembered so much, but I'd also forgotten a lot, and there was so much left to discover. I'll probably feel the same way after seven years more.

In the best way, it reminds me of Hou and Weeresethakul, while still very much being Kawase. Kawase’s early career is largely documentary, and mostly focused on her family. Shara is only her third feature, and the command of the camera and her subject that is evident in just the opening shot is undeniable.
