Inferno ★★★½

Fascinating companion to Suspiria, whose fairytale shadings are replaced by a male-led, female-supported descent into esoterica and eroticism: essentially a bunch of pretty people are teased completely unbeknownst to them by the specter of Death. Argento's precision is mixed with total wild unruliness (especially editing-wise), and McCloskey's shook-awake mannequin is an even more bracing odyssey in the end than Jessica Harper's drug-and-witches daze and confusion.
