    Paris, Texas

    absolutely gut wrenching last thirty minutes. wim wender’s style of slow, intentional, visual-driven filmmaking adds so much depth to his characters. the emphasis on isolation, desolation and pursuit is expertly done. 

    i loved how much natural emotion builds as travis uncovers his past and reconciles with his life, his family, his needs and his errors.

    Chungking Express

    so unbridled in its emotions that it has to be manufactured. wong kar wai so expertly delivers a story of one coin with two sides. how love and grief and exploration unfold in both the stories is so different, yet so universal.

    'chungking express' is hyper-stylized and immensely potent in its aura. its aesthetic. its thesis. the entire movie, from its characters, to its writing, to its cinematography, evokes this feeling of memory. and not just any memory. but memory (or memories) of love.

    What hasn't already been said about Spirited Away? Simply put, this is the best example of Studio Ghibli's talents. Elegant and regal in its presentation but quite heartfelt and sincere in its delivery. A quality that hasn't been reached in quite some time in the medium of animation.
