Watched this awhile ago. But didn’t get around to a review until now. I really liked it. And this was a prime example of a nonstop fun ridiculous action film done right. It was extraordinarily unique. Both in its plot and in its characters. As well as its scenes and set pieces. I constantly found things happening that I wouldn’t have guessed we’re going to. And I mean that in a good way. Carpenter is a master at nonstop entertainment, done perfectly. And ‘Escape from new York’ is no exception. Snake plisken is one of my favorite characters. I do however have one problem. Which isn’t a flaw with the film AT ALL. but the whole time I couldn’t stop thinking about a movie with the same characters and world. But it was about those characters trying to escape from the prison. Instead of them trying to save the president. I think that movie would’ve been way better. But that’s not a flaw with the film whatsoever. Just more of something that dampens my experience with this film. But I still love it. And it’s definitely great.
