"It's wonderful to have a friend."

A Patch of Blue is the third movie I watched today for Sidney Poitier's birthday. The film tells an interesting story and it tells it pretty well. There are some really good moments here and the cast puts in some good work.

    A Raisin in the Sun

    ★★★½

"Oh God, please, look down and give me strength!"

Today is Sidney Poitier's 93rd birthday, so I watched a few of his films. A Raisin in the Sun is one of those films that is clearly based on a play, but unlike some other people, I've never really had a problem with films that feel "stagey". The story of this one is solid, but the cast is what makes it work. Claudia McNeil, Ruby Dee, and Diana Sands all put in strong work here and Poitier is the MVP. I think Poitier deserved an Oscar nomination for this one.

This is a hard film to talk about without spoiling, but I'll give it a try. David Fincher is one of my all time favorite directors, so as soon as this film was announced I was looking forward to it. Then the first trailer was released and I was even more excited. Then the reviews started coming out and everyone was loving and I was dying to…

No raccoons or tree creatures were harmed during the making of this film.

"You said it yourself bitch, we're the Guardians of the Galaxy."- Peter Quill (aka: Star Lord)

I fucking hate people. This was one of the worst audiences I have ever had the opportunity to watch a film with. A bunch of stupid little kids had…
