Absolutely insane Spielberg decided to remake one of the best movie musicals of all time, somehow makes a better version, and decides he’s done with musicals.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Wow, what a movie.
Across the board, extremely likeable characters all having their own unique values. All the actors did such a great job. Visually it was stunning. The story kept me engaged throughout the movie.
Some hilarious parts that made me laugh, some parts that made me empathize with the main family, and some outright tense moments. There's a 20 minutes sprint from when the old housemaid comes back to when they escape that I don't think I've had that much anxiety in a movie theater.
And that's just all on the surface stuff, the underlying message of film rings true as well.
