    The Last Stand

    Welcome back, Arnie.

  • Mud

Nothing that hasn't been done before, but damn it if this didn't do it well.

  • Pain & Gain

    Pain & Gain

This movie wanted to be so many things, and got lost in itself. Unfocused. Marky Mark was more or less a cartoon character in the same way that he was in The Other Guys. I always love the Rock, and the baby-steps he took towards a darker, more troubled character here gives me good hopes for his upcoming HBO series. Anthony Mackie is severely under appreciated, but with this and The Winter Soldier next year he'll hopefully get a lot more exposure. All in all, an interesting movie from Michael Bay, with way less explosions, and attempts to branch out (slightly) from his backlog.

  • Iron Man 3

    Iron Man 3

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Tony Stark had a baby, it was this movie. Fun, but not as fun and nowhere nearly as smart as the first. Ending was a bit weak, but worth a trip to the theater.

  • Immortals

Stylish and brutal. Not very good per se, but if 300 + the Matrix action sounds awesome, you should check it out.

    The Hangover Part II

It's a solid movie, but it just felt like I was re-watching Hangover.

  • The Hunger Games

    The Hunger Games

Wasn't expecting a lot from this, pleasantly surprised. Haven't read the books.

Cinematography was all over the place, to be sure. Movie would have been top notch with a steadier focus on the action and possibly an R-rating.

    Watch it twice.

Impressive 3D and effects, really can't say that they were anything but astounding. Substance of the movie was not there.

  • Shame

A lot of this film seems to build on what Steve McQueen did with "Hunger" technically. The scenes with elongated cuts are still awesome. Fassbender performs very well again. Carey Mulligan's character was great too.

I personally had trouble believing his sex addiction was as problematic as it should of, but all in all it's a pretty solid movie.

  • Hunger

An amazing movie. Shot beautifully and performances were top notch. The twenty minute shot without cuts or even camera movement was done very well. The world inside this film is brutal and bleak in a very good way. Definitely a must-see.

  • Iron Man 2

    Iron Man 2

Was enjoyable, but the first eclipsed it on all fronts.
