Josh Couch’s review published on Letterboxd:
I'm a huge indie horror fan.
Mainstream horror is usually so poorly written and executed that I would rather just not watch anything at all. Naturally, when I heard A24 was coming out with another one of their indie horror films I got very excited.
Hereditary doesn't disappoint. While it is not as fast-paced as many horror fans may like, it is truly a creepy and unnerving experience. It spends time developing the horror of its narrative instead of relying on cheap jump scares which is the RIGHT way to do these films.
Toni Collette is so unbelievably good I can already see this being the most overlooked performance of the year. I'm also really impressed with Alex Wolff considering I haven't seen him since his days on Nickelodeon
This is top tier horror and what all horror films should strive to be.
