Josh Couch’s review published on Letterboxd:
Terrence Malick is one of my 3 favorite directors easily. All his films are immersive film experiences. Some of them attract such mixed reactions, this one especially, and only please a specific audience.
Knight of Cups is an outstanding film in my opinion, but far from Malick's best. In all reality, Malick's worst is still really good but I was really hoping for another "Tree of Life". His unorthodox filming style and script-less technique make for one unique film that makes it hard for some people to follow.
I love his style simply because it feels so much more real and emotional then forcing words through a characters mouth. This is the film Malick wanted to make and a lot of people will hate it. This is still, however, a crowning achievement in Malick's filmography.
