    A Star Is Born

    ★★★★½

I REALLY wish I could give this 5 stars but the 3rd quarter of this movie just brings the whole experience down a little for me. I don't doubt that this was the direction this had to go but it just doesn't settle well with me.

Regardless, this film solidifies itself as one of the best films of 2018. It kills me that Lady Gaga is no longer the front runner for the Oscar because I really don't think we…

Movie #3 on the plane to Morocco.

Yes Glenn Close is amazing but this film drags. I did love the ending though.

I’m not sure when the next movie I watch will be but I’m very excited to be living in Morocco for the semester :)

Movie #2 on the flight to Morocco

Very interesting concept that loses steam and direction in its last half.

  • A Quiet Place

    A Quiet Place

    ★★★★½

Movie #1 on my flight to Morocco

Still such a perfect film in execution and one of the best movies of the year.

Side Note: I’ll be studying abroad in Morocco for the next 4 months and will likely not be logging very many movies :(

I had heard that Regina Hall was incredible in this film but I don't think I was prepared for *that* kind of performance. I mean why aren't more people talking about her???

    Drew Goddard takes on Tarantino.

I love the non linear, structured storylines and flashy colors. This film felt pretty long but this was a really fun, entertaining film.

Ok so I hate rom-coms and I NEVER thought I would actually watch this movie so someone please tell me why I loved it.

This seems so weird but this movie is unlike any other rom-com I've ever seen. Best surprise of the year.

Jonah Hill's confident debut as a director is both genuine and disturbing.

It's kind of messed up to think that these things happen to kids this young but someone has to tell their story. Despite some of the disturbing things that happen, this film is raw, entertaining fun.

What a year for foreign films.

This is the 5th foreign language film this year that I've been blown away by. Happy as Lazzaro is so very original and unexpected that I doubt I could ever forget this movie.

    Well done.

  • The Rider

    The Rider

    ★★★★

What a film. The fact that director Chloe Zhao is able to get these performances out of these first time actors is a testament to her outstanding ability as a director.

While slow paced, this film is captivating, brilliant, and beautifully made. Severely overlooked film of the year.

  • Mandy

    ★★½

I can definitely appreciate the beauty and originality of this film but this is not for me.

I'm all for unconventional indie roles for Nic Cage (since he seems to do his best work in them) but this movie just isn't for everyone.

Maybe it would be better on re-watch.

Usually films like this are predictable but this movie had me screaming WHAT?!?!?! several times before it was over. John Cho was awesome in what was one of the best thrillers of the year.
